Sales of previously owned homes in the U.S. unexpectedly rose in October.  Purchases increased 1.4 percent to a 4.97 million annual rate.  Also, with week ending November 18, loan requests for home purchases provided another bright spot rising 8.2 percent.  Borrowing costs near a record low are helping home buyers take advantage of housing that’s growing more affordable.
